MontRose is a new fashion label with designs created in ankara, fusing popularized African material with everyday styles.  It was started by best friends Daniele Folivi and Yemi Sofidiya in Spring 2011.

Pray for Rain

Living in the United States, we tend not to appreciate little things, such as rain.  For several years, countries in East Africa have been living through devastating conditions of dry climates resulting in fatal famines. the lack of rain  has made it impossible for farmers to grow and produce crops, therefore causing a lack of food.


Somalian and Kenyan citizens have been battling to survive the famines in their countries.  Families travel by foot, walking for days- if not months- to get relief in refuge camps. Several families voyage from one end of the country to the next, losing not only family members on their sojourn, but children who are malnourished, shrinking to just skin and bones.  As of August  4, it has been approximated that 29,000 children under the age of 5 have died in the wake of the famine; 3.7 million people are currently affected according to the United Nations. This adversity is worsened by the militants who are torturing and controlling the citizens, adding more to their burdens.


I implore you to please read and educate yourself about this devastation, and, if not specifically for the citizens of East Africa, pray for rain.
