Do It Again

"Who speaks, sows; Who listens, reaps." - Argentine Proverb

Her sister told her she had an outfit idea for her. She showed her my jumpsuit, and baby girl loved it. She said her seamstress did not give the sleeves enough volume so she had her do it again. Haha. I love the remake of the James Brown inspired jumpsuit.

Debbie baby is not a baby anymore. I can't believe how fast times flies! Good day, all! xoxo

This is a [Wo]man's World

". . . let joy be unconfined . . ." —George Gordon Byron

These past few months have been very busy, yet productive, as I restructure and reorganize many things in my life. It's quite the roller coaster of nervousness and excitement all at the same time. The anticipation of the unexpected and the hope of what could be is fueling me all the more to continue in my pursuit of a life of joy unspeakable...and I am expectantly expectant of what's to come. This next journey is something I hope to share with you all as well, so that we may all celebrate together. I do ask for your forgiveness of the delayed posting[s] and bear with me as I make some transitions in my life. I promise it is good stuff.

As for this number below, it was inspired by the one and only James Brown. It is a lace and stretch taffeta V-neck jumpsuit. The sleeves were everything. (Quite honestly, I think it looked so much better in person.) I enjoyed this jumpsuit.
My Daddy said he loved it! #daddysgirl

Yall have a fantastic day. xoxo

Frozen

"Dreams without goals remain just dreams, and ultimately fuel disappointment. Goals on the road to achievement cannot be achieved without discipline and consistency." - Denzel Washington

Everyone has a goal to do one thing or another. However, without consistent (my ne favorite word) and persistent dedication to that goal it will forever remain a goal, and no an achievement. It is important to be disciplined and diligent in efforts to obtain ones goals because no one will desire for you to win more than you do for yourself.

This is a very popular pattern in Nigeria. While it is a type of Ankara, it is specifically called "Tye-and-Dye" given its print pattern.  Can you tell I had a good old time taking these photos...even in the cold? (=

Have a blessed week.

15-Minute Break

"The people around you will take note if you work hard and work smart. They will also take note if you don’t." -Lowell Taub

These photos are from a fashion show at the University of Pennsylvania, as I waited to showcase. My lovely friend, Mo, rode up to Philadelphia with me at [literally] the very last minute. I am so grateful for great spirited people such as her in my life. I took some pictures of her [on her phone], that are quite the entertainment. But she wouldn't allow me to post any of them as she called it blackmail. It really aren't though if ask me.
Have a lovely week, all.
xx

Mo and I!!

Spotlight: Kelly Rowland in Nigeria

"A lot of people give up too easily. You are closest to your victory when you face the greatest opposition." - Joel Osteen

Kelly Rowland was in Victoria Island, Nigeria last week to perform and co-host Darey's Love Like a Movie II Concert. She was wearing an Ankara cropped top and pants (designer unknown) for an interview, and some funky pattern material that resembles ankara in her performance. Her abs are insane!

In All Your Glory

"Have courage for the great sorrows of life, and patience for the small ones.
And when you have laboriously accomplished your daily task, go to sleep in peace. God is awake." - Victor Hugo

Chris made these pants himself in a few short hours. The details are everything. He also made the the skirt and added the details to the shirt posted below.

80's Baby

Regal Matters

"I live in that solitude which is painful in youth, but delicious in the years of maturity." -Albert Einstein

The dress, the pants, the gele (head tie)... are all just absolutely beautiful.

Rosettes

If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need, but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech, but with actions and in truth.  - 1 John 3:17-18, NIV

Happy Valentine's Day to you all! I hope everyone is able to share and receive beautiful love from those close to you, as well as from strangers.

I had the creative itch about a week ago, so I took some ankara scraps and made a (huge shoulder length) corsage. Simple, yet festive at the same time.

PS...These pictures were taking by my friend, Roland. Check out his work at raatfashion.tumblr.com.

Kente

"Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends." John 15:13, NKJV

Hello, all. Happy Independence Day to my fellow Naija people. I hope and pray that we continue to grow and strive for the best as a individuals and as a nation.

I wore this outfit out and about with friends.  My sorority sister purchased the Kente for me when she was studying abroad in Ghana last year, and I just got around to making something with it.  (Much to my surprise, I had many people comment on the pants stating they loved them because they were well fitted... my seamstress made that as well.)

Another sorority sister and I were on lunch break that day and decided to have an insane photoshoot at the park near the White House.  She literally snapped a photo of my every move. I think I selected the pictures where I look most... presentable. =D

Have a great day, yall.

Okay, I did manage to get one crazy picture in there.

Taking these photos was way too much fun...and slightly dangerous.

I wore it with a blazer, flats, and a pashmina to work.  Please excuse the raggedness of the scarf. She and I were still cracking up before this was snapped.
