You Can Get with This... or You Can Get With That...

I love the above quote so much. It is so telling of life, yet there are many people who do not seem to agree with this sentiment. While working is an essential aspect of life because the reward/result of the exchange [i.e., income for your services] provides for most of your needs and wants, the work you do will never be who you are because your job can change. Your place of employment can change in the matter of a moment, and you will learn the new rules of that workplace.

However, your family, health, friends, and integrity are all so fragile. One error could negatively  impact the course of your future in the matter of seconds. It is so important to wisely invest [time] into those around you. Of those whom you can make the choice to have around you (boyfriend/girlfriend, friend/associate, specific coworkers) be certain they are worth your investment. You do not want people to deposit fraudulent checks into your spiritual bank account. It is worthless. These relationships in your life cannot be improved by any sort of monetary reward. They require the work and investment of your heart and time, which you can never get back.

NOTE: your husband/wife should not be an option whether or not to keep around once YOU made the decision to marry the person (unless abuse or infidelity is/are involved). Do not misuse the institution of marriage because of momentary selfishness. But this is a topic for another day.
 

As for my outfit, this is ankara I had for sometime now (like since 2013). I remembered it, dug it out of the closet, and had this little number made. I have more material so will make something else schnazzy from it. People so did not think this was ankara, and thought it was from Zara. Hehe! Some pics before I started playing with my darling niece.

Whew...it has been a busy season in life. I hve been working traveling a lot, but most importantly became an aunt to the most gorgeous baby EVER! So much happening, and I am grateful for it all. I do pray that all is going well in each of your lives as well.

I wore this blazer to my niece's baby dedication. I have had this material for some time, and finally got around to making something with. Finally. Happy weekend ahead. xoxo

As Mother Teresa stated, love is a buring desire within an individual. It's not selfish or greedy. But patient, kind, respectful, and thus, it produces joy in you, and to others whom you extend your love. Choose to be a joyful person.

This is what I wore to a wedding a couple of week's back. Kenia did it again. This is seperates - a shirt and a [wrap] skirt. I love how she left the legs of the African Women right by the neck line so my head sits right on top of the legs. [haha] It's safe to say this is my new favorite outfit.

I went to my good ol' pal Kenia to sew my dress for my friend's wedding (in which I was a bridesmaid), and she laughed at me for the style I brought. Why? She said it wasn't my style. So she made me think of something new (haha), and here is the result...

The Bride and Her Maidens

I had the privilege of being a bridesmaid for my friend this past weekend. As I told her, I could not have done this for just anyone; but I wholeheartedly believe their union was a match made in Heaven. It was such a joy and blessing to be a witness to God's awesomeness in her [and her husband's!] life. All around the wedding was spectacular. Great ceremony, great music, great food, great people, great time. It was truly a wonderful way to kick off this year's wedding season. (=

My sisters (aka sissies) are the besets in the entire world. Though we may disagree/fight/argue daily, we are best friends and love one another like no other. We actually have this weird tendency to call/text/email/IG message/chat one another all at once. It's insane how many forms of communication there are, and how we use them all at once. [We slightly stalk one another.] 

We went traditional and wore the same tissue buba and velvet iro (wrapper/skirt) in celebration of my birthday this past Sunday to church. I had to switch it up slightly with the gele- I am the birthday girl... hehe.

Note: We always stood/sat in this same order...everywhere!

I looove my 6-inch heel, 3-inch platform shoes!!!

Do you all remember the chant/song we used to sing as children? Shimmy shimmy cocoa puff, shimmy shimmy pie. Lol. It came to mind when I saw my cousin's shirt. I loved that song, by the way!

She has on a sequins gold shirt with a green velvet wrapper/skirt/iro. Just in case you did not, this style has been in vogue for sometime now, and is showing no signs of leaving quite yet.

My seamstress made this for me for a wedding I attended early this summer, so I am late posting these pictures. Of course, this is one of my favorites! It's actually a tube top and skirt (which has six panels using three different ankara material). She suggested making it like this because of the volume in the skirt. And let me note: this is a very heavy skirt. I had a little tossing it back to walk, but not so much having to drag it along. (= 

I like it better as separates because I can use them with different items, which I have.

 

And yes, this is the picture in my logo.
